9,650 Feet and climbing!!!
Tuesday, February 27, 2007

Miss Dorothy called from Tanzania, and this is her report:

They hiked for 7 ½ hours today and reached the first camp at 9650 feet!  It was tough and it went slowly.  They will be going to bed soon.  It is 9 pm there now.  (It is 1 pm here)

They will be getting up at 6 am on Wednesday and climb to 12,000 feel.

Dorothy said that Monday was difficult because they were still suffering from jet lag.  They anticipate that Wednesday will be more difficult.

They have seen a lot of animals – many giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, colobus monkeys, and baboons.

They are also learning some words in Swahili which the guides are teaching them.
