Saturday:
This was my first major hiking weekend in the Shenandoah Park in the Blue Ridge Mts. of Virginia. I set off with some fellow Kili climbers and a few friends for a 5 and ½ hour hike. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the wonderful scenery as we passed many waterfalls. The weather and temperature were perfect for hiking. A pretty easy hike. We saw a rattlesnake!
Sunday:
A short 2-hour hike today as some were feeling a little tired from yesterday. I decided after this hike that it was now time to start thinking seriously about gear. Because the weather is so warm it is hard to plan for hiking at high altitudes below freezing. I can’t decide if I need new boots or not – think I will wait until the next hike in October.
